Family Fun Day Returns to the State Farmers Market

COLUMBIA, S.C. –  Are you looking for a fun, free event to take your family to this summer? Come out to the third annual Family Fun Day at the State Farmers Market in West Columbia on Saturday, July 9th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The event is taking place under the north Certified SC shed, where visitors can shop a variety of vendors for fresh, local produce. Members of the SC Specialty Foods Association will also be selling an assortment of Certified SC products.

The South Carolina Department of Agriculture’s commodity boards will be on site passing out free samples of their products. Enjoy a taste of local peanuts, peaches, watermelon, pork, and beef, while supplies last.

Children can enjoy an exciting kid’s area with a bouncy house and fun ways to learn more about South Carolina agriculture through games and crafts. The Department of Natural Resources will host interactive, educational stations and a local DJ will be playing summertime tunes. Grab something to eat from the food vendors on site or visit Dupre at the Market, the State Farmers Market’s on-site restaurant, for a delicious lunch.

The State Farmers Market is located at 3483 Charleston Hwy. Admission for the event is free. For more information, contact Elizabeth Shuler at eshuler@scda.sc.gov or 803-734-0328.
