Football Fans Invited to FREE Certified SC Grown Tailgate October 8

COLUMBIA, S.C.– Before the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Georgia Bulldogs face off this Saturday, come visit the South Carolina Department of Agriculture’s annual Certified SC Grown tailgate, October 8 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. This free tailgate is in Gamecock Village on Bluff Road and will be held rain or shine.

Fans can taste and see how easy it is to add Certified SC Grown produce and agricultural products in tailgates, family get-togethers, and holiday dinners. BBQ, “Cocky” wings, collard dip, boiled peanuts, sweet potato fries, and pound cake with peaches and cream are just some of the tailgate food planned for the big day.

“No matter which team you pull for on game day, supporting local farms and farmers across our state is something we can all agree on,” said SCDA Commissioner Hugh Weathers. “South Carolina has a rich tradition in both sports and agriculture, and we hope fans will come together and continue to select Certified SC Grown.”

Certified SC Grown is branding designed to help consumers easily identify produce grown in South Carolina or products made in the state. For more information on Certified SC Grown, visit certifiedscgrown.com.
