South Carolina Department of Agriculture to Host Food Safety Training
COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Agriculture will host food safety training for farmers to prepare for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Handling Practices (GHP) on Thursday, March 9 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Phillips Market Center in West Columbia, SC.
The training will include a food safety overview, updates on the Food Safety Modernization Act, information on the SC Farm to Institution program, a presentation from Clemson University Food Safety Specialist, detailed visual examples of the dos and don’ts of on-farm food safety practices, a review of the audit checklist for GAP/GHP, and instructions for preparing a standard operating procedures manual.
