Applications Available for the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup BBQ Cook-off

COLUMBIA – Barbeque grill masters and backyard enthusiasts are invited to compete for the State Championship Title at the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup BBQ Cook-off and Festival, March 24-25, at the State Farmers Market in West Columbia.

This year, children of the cookers will have the opportunity to compete in the inaugural Kids’ Que. They will compete for the title, “Junior Grand Champion” and “Junior Reserve Champion” while serving up their best hamburger to a celebrity judge panel. The entry fee is $15 per contestant and is limited to children between ages 6-12.

The event is sanctioned by the Southern BBQ Network.  The non-refundable entry fee is $150 and includes all categories. The categories and prizes include:

“Boston Butts” winning trophies and cash awards of $1900

First place – $1000

Second place – $600

Third place – $300

 

“Pork Ribs” winning trophies and cash awards of $1900

First place – $1000

Second place – $600

Third place – $300

 

 Cookers competing in Butts & Ribs are eligible to be awarded as

Grand Champion $600

Reserve Champion $300

 

 “People’s Choice” winning a trophy
