The Dominion Foundation Makes Donation to Plant it Forward SC

COLUMBIA, S.C. The Dominion Foundation donated $10,000 to Plant it Forward South Carolina, an initiative by South Carolina Advocates for Agriculture, on May 3, 2016.

Plant it Forward SC will provide relief funds specifically for covering a portion of seed costs for 2016, as well as hay losses livestock farmers suffered because of the flood. Total agricultural losses from October’s flooding are approaching $600 million.

“The Dominion Foundation is proud to support Plant it Forward SC and our local farmers,” said Keith Windle, General Manager for Dominion Carolina Gas Transmission. “The long term sustainability and recovery of South Carolina’s agribusiness is vital to the health and well-being of all South Carolinians.”

Dominion is one of the nation’s largest producers and transporters of energy. The Dominion Foundation is dedicated to improving the physical, social and economic well-being of the communities served by Dominion companies, including Dominion Carolina Gas Transmission. The Foundation supports nonprofit causes that meet basic human needs, protect the environment, support education and promote community vitality.

“On behalf of South Carolina farmers, I cannot thank the Dominion Foundation enough for their generous donation to Plant it Forward SC.  Even though Dominion is fairly new to South Carolina, they recognized the needs of our farmers and responsded,” said Agriculture Commissioner Hugh Weathers.
