Are you interested in learning the basics of how to have a small farm in your own back yard? If so, come join us for a 6-week course geared toward teaching people with very small farms (under 10 acres) the basics on how to care for livestock and honeybees and how to grow your own fruits and vegetables. We will even discuss guidelines required for selling your products to consumers.
Clemson Extension Agents Millie Davenport and George Dickert will offer classes starting April 29, 2014. The class will meet every Tuesday for 6 weeks from 1:30 PM to 5 PM at the Roper Mountain Science Center in Greenville, SC. Topics discussed will include information on beekeeping basics, livestock (goats, pigs and chickens), forages, fruit and vegetable gardening, and state guidelines for selling direct to consumers. Class space is limited, so sign-up now!
The registration fee of $175 covers 6 classes, lesson materials, and a field trip. Two SC pesticide re-certification credits will be available.
Special thanks and appreciation to the Roper Mountain Science Center for co-sponsoring this event.
