Consumer Protection Division: SCDA restructured and reorganized the regulatory departments and transitioned new regulatory oversight and function from the Department of Health and Environmental Control into a highly-trained, equipped, and efficient division. The Consumer Protection Division (CPD) is now comprised of eight (8) main departments: Produce Safety Department, Laboratory Services Department, Consumer Services (including Metrology Laboratory) Department, Feed Safety & Compliance Department, Food Safety & Compliance Department, Federal-State Inspection Services (including Hemp Farming Program) Department, Milk Safety & Compliance Department, and the Retail Food Safety & Compliance Department.
There is a unified effort by these eight program areas to fulfill and comply with their legislated and service driven charge, and each unit is dependent on the other to complete tasks as required by state/federal law and regulation.
