State Barbecue Champion Named at the Commissioner’s Cup BBQ Cook-off and Festival
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 5th annual Commissioner’s Cup BBQ Cook-off and Festival named a new State Barbecue Champion on Saturday, March 19. The South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) hosted this competition at the State Farmers Market, where 47 teams competed for the Grand Champion title in Boston Butts and pork rib categories.
2016 Winners and awards:
Grand Champion (State title): Creek Mill BBQ – Ryan Livingston, North, SC

Reserve Champion: Templar Temptations – Bradley Jeffs, Hephzibah, GA
$300
Boston Butts:
1st Place: Blowin Smoke LLC – Robert Morris, Columbia, SC
$1,000
2nd Place: Creek Mill BBQ – Ryan Livingston, North, SC
$600
3rd Place: Bobo’s Que – Bobby Owens, Clayton, NC
$300
Pork Ribs:
1st Place: Templar Temptations – Bradley Jeffs, Hephzibah, GA
$1,000
2nd Place: Pork Fat Rules – Luke Pye, Inman, SC
$600
3rd Place: Razorback BBQ – Jason Peterson, Summerville, SC
$300
Peoples’ Choice Award: Smokin Gringos – Mike Bastin, Goose Creek, SC
