Is Your Farm Ripe for Tourism?

Learn how to embrace agritourism at August 9 workshop

GILBERT, S.C. –  Can you imagine your farm as a tourist destination?  Have you thought about agritourism but aren’t sure how to get started?  Register to attend the Embracing Agritourism workshop, to be held August 9 at The Grove on Augusta, 3152 Augusta Highway, Gilbert.

Presented by the South Carolina New and Beginning Farmer program, the workshop will feature sessions on agritourism development, legal considerations, marketing and budgeting.  Representatives from the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, Clemson University and the University of South Carolina are among the presenters.

“Agritourism is win-win for farmers and their communities,” said Jackie Moore, Agritourism Marketing Specialist at the SC Department of Agriculture.  “Farmers benefit from additional income, job opportunities, product diversity and family farm preservation.  The community learns where their food comes from and enjoys family friendly activities and enrichment.”

The workshop will be held from 9:00am – 4:00pm and costs $45.00 per person.  Farm to Table lunch will be provided. To register visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/embracing-agritourism-tickets-47311540090?aff=ebdssbdestsearch or call Miriam Pflug, 864-237-3648 for more information.

The deadline for registration is July 23.
