South Carolina Farmer Chalmers Carr Appointed to National Agriculture Advisory Board

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Agriculture is pleased to announce the appointment of South Carolina farmer, Mr. Chalmers Carr III, to the National Agricultural Research, Extension, Education, and Economics (NAREEE) Advisory Board. Mr. Carr is the owner and operator of Titan Farms, a diverse family farm operation that focuses on growing peaches and southern vegetables.

This prestigious appointment was announced November 17, from Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack in Washington. NAREEE Advisory Board advises the Secretary of Agriculture and land-grant colleges and universities on top national priorities and policies for food and agriculture research, education, extension, and economics. Mr. Carr represents the Plant Commodity Producer category of U.S. Agriculture stakeholders.

“It is exciting for South Carolina to be represented on the NAREE Advisory Board. I know Chalmers will serve our state and country very well and has already been a strong voice for agriculture at the state and national level. He is very deserving of this impressive appointment,” said South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture, Hugh Weathers.
