About
Marion "Rollen" Chalmers, known to most as Rollen, grew up in Hardeeville, SC. From a young age, Rollen had a passion for farming which inspired him to perfect the skill of growing heritage race and other heritage crops. Glen Roberts and Richard Schultz, Jr. gave Rollen the opportunity to start growing Carolina Gold Rice at Turnbridge in Hardeeville, SC. Turnbridge has proven to have what it takes for rice to thrive. I addition to growing heritage rice at Turnbridge, Rollen has grown Carolina Gold Rice on Daufuskie Island, SC which made this the first time that rice has been grown on the island in over 100 years. Rollen and his wife, Frances, opened the physical location of Rollen's RAW Grains in April 2023 in the Levy community of Hardeeville, SC. The physical location offers all of his grain products as well as fresh produce, ciders, jams, jellies and niche health food products.
