The Seniors Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is designed to increase the domestic consumption of agricultural commodities through farmers markets, roadside stands, and community supported agriculture programs as well as aiding the development of new and additional farmers markets, roadside stands, and community support agricultural programs by providing low-income seniors with access to locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, and herbs.
Nationally, over 800,000 seniors receive SFMNP benefits each year. In South Carolina, the SFMNP is administered through a partnership between Department of Social Services (seniors) and the Department of Agriculture (farmers). If you would like more information, please contact the appropriate agency.
